Pinterest

My fabulous sister shared a website with me the other day that I have now become addicted to. It's going to help me in crafty things and in other ways. I already got an idea for a toddler lunch that went over well. The website is Pinterest and it's a social networking site that focuses on pictures. You "pin" pictures that you like and can "follow" friends or people with similar styles. These pinned pictures link back to the site where they originally came from, so you can find all kinds of cool websites and tutorials.

For example, I searched for hair clips and found this cute picture

If you click on it (here or on the pinterest site) it takes you to a website that teaches you how to make them. It's almost like bookmarking sites because you can come back to them later if you don't have time to read the whole page.

This is what I made the girls the other day for lunch

This one links to a tumblr page, but how much instruction do you need? My girls loved it!

Anyway, if you need an invitation, let me know. I tried to sign myself up and got a message that there was a waiting list, but when my sister sent me an invitation I was in within an hour.

A post

So, I haven't been crafty, but I've been digitally crafty! Does that count?

Special thanks to:

For the graphics and excellent tutorial on how to make my blog pretty!!!

Clips and things

Hello! I'm going to start a blog for my crafty things. I don't consider myself a "crafty" person, but I started making clips and bows a few weeks ago and I am really enjoying being a little creative. In this post, I'm going to show you what I have made so far. When I make more, I'll post more. No, they aren't for sale. I'm making them for my girls and as gifts. If I use a specific tutorial to make them, I will try to post a link. I may make a tutorial or two at some point, so if there is one that you would really like to know how to make, let me know.

These are the first ones I made. I got the tutorial at Make it Do Gift

The template for this one came from Liberty Elle

The tutorial and template that I used to make these is from Yoonie At Home

So then I got ambitious and Hobby Lobby had a 50% off sale on ribbon. I tried several different kinds of bows and this is what I came up with.

Simple? Yes. I decided I may need to stick to felt. Though, these are cute, too

I can't find the blog with the idea for these, but here it is

If I come across it again, I'll post a link.

The same goes for these:

As you can tell, I'm kind of partial to this kind. :-)

So, I was wandering the aisles in Hobby Lobby (a potentially dangerous situation) looking for something and I came across some small cookie cutter looking things that I thought were especially cute. They are supposed to be for making clay things, but I used them as patterns for clips.

These were all done without templates

Well, after making so many clips, I had to have a place to put them all. I thought back to when I was little and what my mom had for me to put my clips on. It was a little felt girl with yarn for hair. I tried my hand at one and had to make two, because I have two girls and they are not into sharing right now.

No, I didn't make all of the clips & bows, but I put them all in one place. :-)

So those are my crafty things as of late. I'll post more as I make them!
